Treasurer’s Report

  • Baseball sponsorships have increased tremendously
  • Softball registrants are up from the past
  • IRS late fee was waived
  • The Treasurer presented a written report of the budget at the meeting that provided an update on 2016E financials, key budget items, and related matters
  • Budget does not yet include the potential contribution of $7,200 for the High School Varsity Assistant Coach
  • Funding of Varsity Baseball Assistant Coach
  • Jeff Schaeffer joined meeting and explained background and need for Assistant Coach
  • Now have unanimous approval from Executive Board
  • Position will be funded through the Board of Ed
  • Absentee votes were collected
  • Vote to fund High School Varsity Assistant Coach was passed

Softball Update

  • Late registrants have been accepted; up to 252 registrants (last year was at 217)
  • All girls have been placed on teams; practices have been scheduled
  • Pizzafest is March 28th; games will not be changed after PizzaFest
  • Umpire clinic is set for Saturday, March 19th
  • Girls will start umpiring in the field first; Shirts have been ordered
  • 5th/6th grade pitching session is set
  • Coaches meeting with Tri-town on Wednesday, March 23


Registration Updates

  • 252 softball
  • 616 baseball


Marketing & Purchasing Report

  • 76 sponsors for 79 teams
  • 23 banners
  • Articles were placed in the Patch, TAP, follow-up in schools
  • Names will be put on web site and will be included in social media


Fundraising Update

  • 50/50 tickets are available
  • The cost will be $50
  • Winner does not have to be present to win
  • Distribution will begin soon; will get into the hands of coaches at PizzaFest
  • Elks Party  - Friday, May 6th



  • Rec uniforms went into production last weekend and should be ready by PizzaFest
  • Travel – people are on their own for pants
  • Coaches will be given hats for their teams



  • Pizza Fest – March 21,22, 24,28 – 6;30 – 7:30
  • Prizes will be raffled off at Pizza Fest
  • High school ‘store’ will also be open during Pizza Fest
  • Photo Day is on April 30th. Will be at Jefferson at 8-noon
  • TryCan day – June 17th baseball/b-b-que night – Friday night of championship weekend


Director of Operations

  • Baseball draft review
  • Umpires will be used for scrimmages week of April 4th
  • Season starts on 4/18


Umpire Program

  • Treasurer pays league director for the umpires; league director then gives to each coach
  • 46 umps in boys program; 8-10 for the girls program
  • Lou will do situational ump training on Sunday 4/20 at 6:30; Sam Coburn will do rule-book training on 4/23 (pizza will be provided)


Director of Personnel

  • Kindergarten and 2nd grade teams are formed; 1st grade almost complete
  • Tball – 3rd grade coaches clinic on Saturday, March 19th
  • Turf field is available on Sundays from noon – dark; needs to be promoted
  • Open day festivities should be arranged for grades 3-6
  • Coaches who are new to the organization need to go through background checks


Safety and Security

  • Strongly encourage all coaches to use SJBB web site to communicate to the team


Roll a Pair

  • Has no affiliation to SJBS; Roll a Pair is a high school club


Field Update:                     

  • All fields are open
  • Jefferson field has ruts and needs work
  • Todd attended a field allocation meeting from the Rec and confirmed that baseball gets a great deal of attention among all Summit sports
  • There is a new portable pitching machine at Jefferson
  • The batting cage netting will be replaced
